Ohio CPE Requirements

License Renewal Date: Triennial

CPE Reporting Period: January 1 - December 31

General Requirements
  • 120 Total CPE Hours
  • 3 Professional Standards and Responsibilities CPE Hours
Annual Requirements
  • 20 Annual CPE Hours [Effective 1/1/2016]

An Ohio permit holder must complete a minimum of twenty CPE credits annually. Failure to complete twenty CPE credits annually will result in a fine of ten dollars for every CPE credit deficient.

Half credits are accepted.

Ohio initial period is biennial.

Other Requirements
  • Did you assume responsibility by performing work on any financial engagement, prepare financial reports, or sign any financial reports OR Did you perform regulated services in financial reporting or internal controls reporting?
    If Yes: 24 Accounting/Auditing CPE Hours
  • Did you assume responsibility by performing work on any tax engagement, prepare any tax returns, or sign any tax returns as a CPA or PA?
    If Yes: 24 Taxation CPE Hours
Initial License:

New licensees must earn 40 CPE hours between January 1 of the year in which they are licensed and December 31 of the following year.
