Georgia CPE Requirements
License Renewal Date: Biennial in Odd Years
CPE Reporting Period: January 1 - December 31
General Requirements
- 80 Total CPE Hours
- 40 Technical CPE Hours
- 4 Ethics CPE Hours including 1 GA Specific Ethics CPE Hours
- 50% of the total required CPE must be earned in technical subjects of which 16 CPE shall be in accounting and auditing subjects
Annual Requirements
- 20 Annual CPE Hours
Initial License Requirements:
- If license was issued in an odd-numbered year, no CPE is required for first year of licensure.
- If the license was issued in an even-numbered year, 40 hours of CPE are required to renew the license the following year. 8 of the 40 must be in A&A topics.
- 40 Total CPE hours in every 12 months
- 20 Annual CPE hours in every 12 months
- 20 Technical CPE hours in every 12 months
Carry-over CPE:
Up to fifteen (15) credits of acceptable non-technical fields of study completed during the CPE reporting period immediately preceding the renewal date of a license in excess of the requirements for such preceding period may be applied to satisfy the continuing professional education requirements of the following CPE reporting period. No carryover credits can be used to satisfy the technical fields of study credit requirement provided for in this section.For more information, please consult the Georgia State Board of Accountancy.
