In today’s world, individuals are constantly searching for personal improvement opportunities whether that be in their professional or personal lives. With the onslaught of on-line tools and “Apps”, you may think there would be a new App designed that can walk us through the steps of being a leader. However, it is not that easy. Leadership is impacted by so many variables both internal and external as well as our own personal characteristics and traits.
There are an abundance of books, articles, courses and seminars on leadership. Many are taught by outstanding corporate or political leaders who have made their mark in the world. The learning comes from the successes and failures experienced by individuals while working their way through the organizational structure. What these leadership classes don’t tell us is how to “Find the Leader Within”. In other words, not everyone is meant to be a corporate CEO, but that does not mean you can’t be a leader. The connotation of leadership extends far beyond any individual corporate title.
This course will step beyond the traditional leadership styles and techniques and challenge you to identify your individual talents and the leader within. We will step into the psychology of what it takes to be a leader in today’s business world and discuss how you can evaluate your own individual skills and traits to determine your personal leadership path on your way to a successful career. We will use real life scenarios and examples of today’s leaders and evaluate how those successes/failures impacted their individual careers and futures. You will come away from this session with a method to help you identify your individual leadership aspirations and a path to success. Throughout the course we will examine leadership in today’s business world and what it takes to be a leader while exploring the meaning of leadership and its application to individual roles. We will also examine how personalities, culture, organizational setting contribute to leadership styles. Lastly we will identify how to find your passion and build it into a leadership profile.

Lynn Fountain
Lynn Fountain has over 38 years of experience spanning public accounting, corporate accounting and consulting. 20 years of her experience has been working in the areas of internal and external auditing and risk management. She is a subject matter expert in multiple fields including internal audit, ethics, fraud evaluations, Sarbanes-Oxley, enterprise risk management, governance, financial management and compliance. Lynn has held two Chief Audit Executive (CAE) positions for international companies. In one of her roles as CAE, she assisted in the investigation of a multi-million-dollar fraud scheme perpetrated by a vendor that spanned 7 years and implicated 20 employees. The fraud was formally investigation by the FBI and resulted in 5 indictments estimating a $13M fraud loss.
Ms. Fountain is currently engaged in her own consulting and training practice. She is a highly sought-after trainer and international speaker. In addition, Ms. Fountain has assisted numerous companies with enterprise risk management frameworks, internal audit processes and financial accounting. She also serves as a discussion leader for the AICPA for numerous classes finance, accounting and risk management topics.
Ms. Fountain is the author of three separate technical books. Her first book released in 2015 by the Institute of Internal Auditors Foundation is entitled “Raise the Red Flag – The Internal Auditors Guide to Fraud Evaluations”. Her second book “Leading the Internal Audit Function” was released in October 2015 by Taylor & Francis Publications. This book serves as the initial launch for a series of leading practice internal audit and information technology publications. Her third book “Ethics and the Internal Auditor’s Dilemma” was released in December 2016.
Ms. Fountain obtained her BSBA from Pittsburg State University and her MBA from Washburn University in Kansas. She has her CPA, CGMA, CRMA credentials.
