Jane SearingJane is a tax shareholder with Clark Nuber in Bellevue, Washington. She leads the firm's public charity and private foundation tax practice. Jane is a past chair and current associate member of the AICPA Exempt Organizations Technical Resources Panel which addresses tax issues facing exempt organizations at a national level. Jane currently serves on the AICPA Tax Executive Committee. She specializes in issues of public disclosure, income and excise tax planning for exempt organizations and their taxable subsidiaries, international financial transactions and compliance, as well as complex social venture structures and charitable giving strategies.
Jane has extensive experience with IRS examinations, appeals, exemption applications, and ruling requests. She has been listed in CPA Magazine as one of the Top 50 IRS Practitioners and one of the Top 40 Practitioners to Know in a Recession. Jane is a regular presenter at the AICPA National Not-For-Profit Conference; AICPA Non-Profit and Governmental National Conference, Philanthropy Northwest annual conference, and co-chairs the Foxmoor Private Foundation Summit with Jody Blazek. Writing credits include co-author and editor of the Form 990 Compliance Guide published by Wolters Kluwer, as well as other books and numerous articles on tax issues affecting tax exempt organizations, private foundations, and charitable gift and estate planning, including the AICPA's Form 990: A Comprehensive Approach to Accurate Preparation. She is a graduate of the University of Washington and holds a master's degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University.
Jane is a member of Washington Women's Foundation, is a member of the, AICPA, AICPA Tax Executive Committee, associate member of the AICPA Exempt Organization Technical Resource Panel, a board member of Seattle Philanthropic Advisors Network, a member of Washington Society of CPAs, serves on the membership committee of Independent Sector, is on the advisory board for Life Enrichment Options and Cycle the Wave, and is an alpine Special Olympics ski coach with the Skihawks racing team. Jane lives in Issaquah, Washington with her husband and boxer, Laila. She has two adult children and, in addition to skiing, enjoys hiking and running half-marathons.
