Many employees and job candidates seem to have concluded that “life is too short to work at a job you don’t like.” Workers have gotten used to flexibility and spending more time with their families, and many are quitting jobs that do not offer the work-life balances they seek. Savvy organizations that take the time to learn what employees are looking for in the workplace, and figure out how to make changes to be able to offer it, are likely to outperform their competitors in the fight for top talent in a tough job market.
